Obituary
Dennis Boyer, of Orlando, Florida, went to be with the Lord on June 24, 2024, at the age of 78. Born on April 5, 1946, in Johnstown, PA. Son of the late Leroy and Helen (Mowery) Boyer. Preceded in death by siblings: Douglas Boyer and Brad Boyer. Survived by children: Bridgette (Boyer) Rogers, Orlando, FL. (wife of Scott Rogers), and Brody Boyer, Atlanta, GA. (husband of Monika Kutnik Boyer); grandchildren: Ethan Rogers, Lillian Rogers, Clementine Boyer, Valenton Boyer and Hewitt Boyer; siblings: Sandy Wonderly (wife of John Wonderly), Nampa, ID, and Craig Boyer (husband of Tess Boyer), Johnstown, PA.
A proud graduate of Richland Township Highschool in 1964, Dennis excelled on the football and baseball fields, while also showcasing his musical talent singing in the choir and playing the trumpet. In 1969, Dennis graduated from Ashland College in Ashland, Ohio, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. Dennis’ professional journey included roles at Kroger Distribution Center and as a Production Manager at Gayla Industries in the Balloon Division. Dennis dedicated the last 20 years of his career to the Orange County Corrections Department, retiring in 2006.
Beyond his career, Dennis found immense joy in his hobbies. An avid photographer, he captured the beauty of nature in all its forms, sharing his talent with friends and family through breathtaking images. He also enjoyed fishing, camping and the friendly competition of the bowling lanes and golf courses.
Dennis, a devoted father and grandfather, was perhaps best known for his love of family and friends. Always quick to say hello, Dennis never knew a stranger. He went to great lengths to be in the lives of his children as they grew up, reinventing himself across multiple states and cities. Dennis was also known for his great sense of humor, always the practical jokester looking to get a laugh in an effort to make connection. An avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, he cheered passionately for his team, celebrating victories and enduring losses with equal fervor.
Dennis’ kindness, generosity, and love for his family and community will be remembered always. May he rest in peace, knowing his impact on the lives he touched will endure forever.
A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, October 13th from 5-9pm at Dubsdread Ballroom, Orlando, Florida. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to The Audobon Society, Toys for Tots, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or the Red Cross, in honor of Dennis’ dedication to public service and his passion for nature’s beauty.
