Obituary

Dennis L. Double, age 71, originally from Erie, PA passed away peacefully with family by his side at his home on May 6th, 2021. He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years, Brenda, loving daughter Michelle, a grandson whom he was devoted to, Judd. One sister Diana Infantino (Jim) and one brother David Double (Barbara) both of Erie, PA and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Justin D. Double, mother Verdie E. (McMillen) Double, a brother Darrell T. Double, and a nephew Justin D. Double.

He attended Edinboro University as an aspiring scholar of history. Following that he had an accomplished career of 35 years at General Electric before retiring to Ocala, FL in 2009. He remained passionately informed about current events. Throughout his life he loved family vacations, whether it was roughing it at camp or spending it in a luxury hotel suite. Among some of his favorite destinations were the National Parks, especially Yellowstone. Dennis was thrilled with all aspects of travel, from the planning to the journey itself. Despite having to suffer the ravages of cancer, he endured with a positive outlook, a smile on his face, and kept his quirky sense of humor. In his own words: “The mountains are calling and I must go.”

A memorial service will be held at Baldwin Brothers Funeral Home at 954 E Silver Springs Blvd in Ocala, FL on Tuesday, May 11th, 2021 from 4 to 6 PM. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Blessed Trinity Catholic Church in Ocala, FL.

It was my great good fortune to meet both Dennis and Brenda at a very troubling time in my life, time was short but filled with fun and laughter be it playing Pictionary, fooling around playing Tennis , or just eating at Red lobster I found Dennis to be a gentle, thoughtful man always game for fun even if it was at times at his expense he will be greatly missed by all who knew him .

Happy memories are mile stones on life's hard way . I thank you both XX
