Obituary

Diane E. Barras (76) of Palm Coast Florida, originally from Blackstone Massachusetts passed away on Thursday December 17, 2020 surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor her life and advocate for those suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.  She was a loving and kind wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend.

Diane was born to Claire and Raymond Ricard in Mendon Massachusetts on January 1, 1944.  Diane had many interests in life and always lit up the room with her contagious smile and her desire to make those around her happy.  She married the love of her life, Maurice (Moe) Barras, shortly after graduating from high school.  Diane was passionate about cooking, a skill she inherited from her mother Claire, who owned and operated Ricky’s Diner in Mendon Massachusetts.  Diane and Moe later went on to open several of their own restaurants, these included: Diane’s Donuts in North Smithfield Rhode Island, Diane’s Deli, Bijou’s Bistro and then Bijou’s Milhouse, all in Woonsocket Rhode Island.  Diane and Moe took great pleasure in serving great food and meeting so many wonderful people in the community.

Diane had a passion for cruising and was always smiling and dancing with Moe while seeing the world.  The family has many fond memories of vacationing and will always have Diane with them in spirit on their future adventures.

Diane is survived by her loving husband Moe whom she was extremely fortunate to have as her primary care giver for many years while battling Alzheimer’s.  She also leaves behind her Daughter Lisa (Barras) Kamfonik and her husband Allen Kamfonik of Palm Coast, Florida.  Her son David Barras and his wife Michelle Mariani of Woonsocket, Rhode Island and her son Scott Barras and his wife Barbara (Peters) Barras of South Burlington, Vermont.

Diane has 3 grandchildren, Jared Kamfonik and his wife Sarah (Wicks) Kamfonik of Loxahatchee Florida, Adam Kamfonik and his wife Samantha (Paquin) Kamfonik of Clayton, New Jersey and Felicity Barras of South Burlington, Vermont.  Diane was also blessed with 2 great-grandchildren, Abigail and Thea Kamfonik, daughters of Jared and Sarah.

Diane came from a large family and has 5 siblings: Roland Ricard, Normand Ricard, Raymond Ricard, Hector Ricard and Jeanine (Ricard) Merolli.

There are no services planned at this time.

In lieu of flowers we are asking that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Diane.
