Obituary
Dianne M. “Dee” Potenti, 70, of Largo, FL, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2023, at her home, surrounded by her loving family after a brave battle with cancer. Her devoted partner & soul mate of 50 years, James Potenti, predeceased her in 2015, also after a battle with cancer. She leaves behind three sons, whom she loved & adored: her oldest, Marc; her middle son, Joel, also known as Jay; and her youngest, whom she referred to as her “baby” to this day, Scotti Potenti, all of Largo, FL. She is also survived by her sister, Linda McCreery of CA. Dee was the beloved “Grammy”, or “Nana,” to seven grandchildren: Zach White, Anthony, Alyssa, Gina, Liyah, Marc Jr., and Anthony “AJ” Potenti. She also leaves behind two great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews & cousins. She was predeceased by her son Shawn Potenti.
Dianne was born in Worcester, the daughter of the late Raymond and Rose Fontaine. She lived there until her high school sweetheart, Jimmy, passed away in 2015. She then moved to Florida, where she discovered her love for the beach. A graduate of North High School, she later attended beauty school & worked at her mother’s beauty salon, Petite Salon, on Grafton Hill. She had many hobbies & later worked for VacationFundraising, finding joy in helping others in need.
She was a devoted Catholic & a longtime member of Our Lady of Loretto Church. Dee took pride in assisting with the raffle booth for the Italian Festival each year. She made numerous friends in Florida & everywhere she went. Her radiant personality lit up every room. When she wasn’t home, you could usually find her on the beach, where she spent much of her time.
Her beautiful smile & charming spirit will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. For those of us who loved her, every day will be a celebration of the love & light she brought into our lives. She will leave a gap in the hearts of many.
In accordance with Dee’s wishes, she was able to attend her own celebration of life in Largo, FL, and there will be no additional services at this time.
