Obituary

Dolores Palumbo Fenton, 90, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2025. Born on December 10, 1934, in Belmar, New Jersey, Dolores was the youngest of eleven children of Domonic and Mary Palumbo. Growing up along the South Jersey Shore, she developed a lifelong love for the ocean, the beach, and the simple joy of gathering with family on sunny summer days.

When Dolores was still in high school, she moved with her parents to South Florida — a place that would become home for much of her life. It was there, while working at Pan American World Airways in Miami, that she met the love of her life, John A. Fenton. The two were married on April 1, 1956 (Easter Sunday) at the Church of the Little Flower in Coral Gables, marking the beginning of a 57-year journey of love, faith, and family.

Dolores and John made their home in Hialeah, Florida, where they raised five children together. Family was always at the heart of her world, with Sunday Supper always at the center. She poured her energy into balancing the demands of a busy household with determination. As her children grew, Dolores took on an administrative role at a local bank, where her reliability and attention to detail earned her the respect of both colleagues and customers.

After many fulfilling years in Hialeah, Dolores and John retired to Boynton Beach, Florida, where they enjoyed a quieter life together — closer to some of her sisters, family visits, and memories of a lifetime shared. They remained devoted to each other until John’s passing in 2013.

In 2022, Dolores moved to Fort Myers, Florida, to be closer to her daughter, Pam, where she enjoyed the sunshine, visits from family, and reminiscing about stories from her youth on the beaches of Belmar. She often spoke fondly of her large family, especially her beloved older sisters, whose wisdom, humor, and strength shaped much of who she became.

Dolores is survived by her son, John J. Fenton, and daughter-in-law, Victoria L. Fenton, of Eatonton, Georgia; granddaughter, Jennifer R. Fenton, and granddaughter-in-law, Kara T. Kaiser, of Madison, Georgia; and two great-grandchildren, Everett K. Kaiser and Quinn O. Kaiser, also of Madison; son Daniel J. Fenton, grandson John Raymond Fenton both of Miami, Florida; daughter Pamela J. Brannen of Fort Myers; son Alan C. Fenton of Saint Cloud, Florida; and son Douglas W. Fenton, and daughter-in-law, Michele Fenton, of Naperville, Illinois, along with their two boys, grandsons Doug and Nate Fenton, also of Naperville. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family who loved her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Fenton, her parents, and her ten siblings — all of whom she remembered fondly and with deep affection.

Dolores will be remembered for her unwavering devotion to family and her quiet strength. Her life was marked by love, loyalty, and faith — qualities she passed on to those who knew her best.

A private family service will be held to celebrate her life. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages acts of kindness in her memory — sharing time, love, or compassion with those who need it most.

I was fortunate to have known her from visiting her at Discovery Village and going to lunch several times together with her daughter Pam and driving around to get some fresh air and to appreciate nature. My thoughts are with the entire Fenton family. May Mrs Fenton rest in eternal peace.
