Obituary
Don Stephens, 83 of Ocala, FL passed away peacefully on July 15, 2022 with his wife, Rhonda by his side. Don enjoyed being with his family and friends. He loved playing golf, fishing, beach, traveling, and playing cards with family and friends. Don will be dearly missed.
Don was born in Chattanooga, TN in 1939, his family moved to Oak Ridge, TN at age 3. Don played several sports growing up in Oak Ridge, TN, but his passion was football. He played football in high school for the Oak Ridge Wildcats, their team went undefeated and won the State Championship in 1956. He went on to play football for the University of Tennessee Volunteers. He was inducted into the Football Hall of Fame at Oak Ridge in 2016. Don was a Wildcat and Volunteer at heart.
Don was a salesman for most of his adult life, retiring at the age of 58 from being an outside salesman for a building material wholesale company. After retiring he was able to enjoy all the things in life he wanted to, from spending time with family, playing golf, fishing, traveling and meeting up with his Oak Ridge classmates in Crossville, TN every summer.
Don is survived by his wife Rhonda of nearly 42 years, daughters Donna Williams (Stoney) Oak Ridge, TN, Margaret Stephens – Tallahassee, FL, Patty Brown (Steve) Tallahassee, FL, Katie Palmer (Tom) Oak Ridge, TN, Sister Doris Hunt – Michigan, Daughter in Law Paige Stephens – Ocala, FL, Grandchildren Austin Brown (Jen) and Katie Brown – Tallahassee, FL, Stephen Palmer – New York, Jessica Palmer – North Carolina, Preston Stephens (Ashley) Titusville, FL, Jamison Stephens – Ocala, FL, Great Grandkids Aidan and Landon Brown – Tallahassee, FL, first wife Kathleen Stephens – Oak Ridge, TN. He was predeceased by his parents Ira and Treva Stephens, brother Preston Stephens, and son Mike Stephens.
There will be a Gathering of Family and Friends Saturday August 27, 2022 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at Quail Meadows Community Clubhouse in Ocala, FL, also in Tennessee Saturday November 5, 2022 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm at the Elks Lodge in Oak Ridge, TN.
