Obituary
Donald A. Arago, Sr., age 83, of New Smyrna Beach, passed away on Friday, June 10, 2022, at his residence from complications due to Covid.
Donald was born on July 31, 1938 in Providence, RI., a son to the late Anthony and Rosalyn (Medieros) Arago. He graduated from Hope High School and after graduation, he proudly served in the United States Airforce.
On May 22,1982, Donald married the love of his life, Claire Grieco, who survives in the home. Donald ran his own barber shop in Providence, RI., for many years and also worked at Wonder Bread while serving as Vice President of the Teamsters Union for General Motors until retirement.
Donald was a social and active man who was deeply involved in youth little league, fishing, boating, and soccer for the majority of his life, and was inducted into the Fox Point Soccer Hall of Fame. He was an avid Red Sox and boxing fan. He will always be remember for being a happy, fun loving person.
In addition to his wife of 40 years, Donald is survived by one daughter; Elise Falvo and her husband Tony of East Providence, RI., one grandson, Michael Gama, IV of Fort Meyers, FL., his step-children, Linda Chita of Uxbridge, MA., and Glenn Grieco of Edgewater, Fl.
He is preceded in death by his son, Donald A. Arago, Jr., and sister, Audrey Girard.
A memorial mass will be held at 11 am, Thursday, July 7, 2022, at the Catholic Church of Epiphany 201 Lafayette Street Port Orange, Fl. 32127.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests all memorial donations be made to St. Jude Childrens Hospital https://www.stjude.org
Interment will be in Rhode Island at a later date.
