Donald Ray Bias, 74, passed away peacefully at home in Tavares, FL on September 13, 2017.  Don was born to Louise & Otis Bias in Oklahoma City, OK on July 22, 1943.

Besides his wife of 32 years, Barbara, Don is survived by his beloved children; Steven (Martina), Don Alan (Cindy), Kerrie (David) and Wesley; step-children, Darren (Dee Dee) Downing and Kelly Downing; his sister, Peggy Lane.  Don’s 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren were the loves of his life.  He was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Sharon Black.

Don spent his life in the printing profession, starting out as a press helper, pressman, plant manager and eventually East Tennessee Sales Manager for Lithographics in Nashville, TN.

After retiring and moving to Tavares, FL in June of 2008, Don became a member of First United Methodist Church, Mount Dora, where he volunteered at Lake Cares Food Bank.

Don was an avid fisherman who loved spending the day fishing on the water with his kids and grand-kids. He was a past Commodore of the Aqua Knots Boat Club and was also very active in Imperial Terrace East activities.

He liked to end each day going for a golf cart ride with his special pal, “Honey Bunny”, and loved to greet all his friends throughout the community.

A Memorial Service will be held in Knoxville, TN on Sunday, October 1, 2017.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Imperial Terrace East Clubhouse in Tavares, FL at 11:00 am Saturday, October 28, 2017, with a luncheon to follow.  Pastor Gary Upleger will be officiating.

Our friend and neighbor leaves a hole in our hearts and in our community. We can only remember all the great times we had and know he left good deeds in so many activities he accomplished. He made this word a better place and he will grace the next word free of pain and worries.

We are going to miss Uncle Don so much. I still can't imagine that as I type this he isn't at home in Florida riding around in his golf cart. As much as I'm saddened for my own loss, I'm even more sad for my Aunt, cousins and my mom. I know that he's in a beautiful place (even more than Florida) and he will always be with us in our memories and hearts. He was the best Uncle and I will miss him. ❤️

Barb -- our condolences on the passing of Don. We, too, had a loss. Our son Brian Buwalda was electrocuted on Monday, Sep 11, 2017, by a down power line in Winter Park during the Irma hurricane storm. We together grieve but we have hope that they are now at rest with Our Lord!
