DONALD E BREWER SR.
Donald E Brewer Sr, formerly of Bridgewater NJ, residing in Fort Myers Fl, and Beachwood, NJ passed away at his home in Fort Myers on the 31st of May.
Don was born in Dunellen, and is predeceased by his parents, Elmer and Dorothy Brewer, as well as his Brother Carl and Sister Judith.
Don graduated Wardlaw School for Boys, and attended Lafayette University. In 1957 he married Barbara VanFleet. They were married for 62 years. He worked for Elmer Brewer Fuel Oil Company for many years. He also served as a Special Police Officer for the Bridgewater PD, rising to the rank of Sargent, and for the County Park Police as well. He also served Bridgewater as Civil Defense Director during the 1970s. After retiring from the Oil Company, he sat for his Captain’s license, and became the Engineer for the Viking Village Fishing Fleet in Barnegat Light NJ for many years.
Don enjoyed hunting, fishing and shooting. He won the annual South Jersey Fall Billfish Tournament in 1981 with a huge white marlin. He also enjoyed spending time with his great grandchildren. He was hugely proud of his grandsons for their service in the US Army.
Don is survived by his wife of 62 years, Barbara Brewer, his daughters, Kelley Bless of Beachwood NJ, and Carrie Brewer of Bushkill PA, and his son, Donald Jr of Somerville, his grandsons, Jason (Barbara) DiPane of San Antonio, TX, Ian (Jeanette) Custode of Clearwater Fl, and 7 great grandchildren, Jennifer, Ryan, Anna, Kylia, Lillian, Maxine, and Nola, and two Step-Grandsons, Joe (Devon) and Ken Bless.
