Obituary
Donald W. Ging, a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend passed away on
September 16, 2024 surrounded by his family. Born on January 5, 1952 in Long Branch, NJ to
Milton and Betty Ging, Don resided most of his life in Ocean Township, NJ until retiring to Port Charlotte Florida in 2017.
Don graduated from Long Branch High School in 1970 and received his Bachelor’s Degree from
Monmouth University. A man of many talents, Don worked for various companies throughout
his life. He also was a member of the Oceanic Fire Department in Long Branch, NJ. During his time of volunteering, he held the position of Captain and Treasurer.
In his free time, he was an avid reader, sports enthusiast (New York Yankees, New York Giants, and NASCAR), golfer, and bowler. It was through a bowling league where he met the love of his life, Maureen. Together, they raised two children, Heather and Kevin, who he was exceptionally proud of and was always their biggest supporter.
Upon his well deserved retirement, Don enjoyed taking various trips- especially to Disney,
golfing, playing shuffleboard, bike riding, and making wood crafts. His favorite time though wasspending quality time with Maureen, his children, and his friends, all of whom will miss him terribly.
He was predeceased by his parents, Milton and Betty Ging. He is survived by his wife of almost 40 years, Maureen; his daughter and son-in-law, Heather and John Vitalone; his son and his partner Kevin Ging and Angelina Vartanova, and his grandson Artem. Don is survived by his siblings: Jeffrey (Audrey) and Lois (Joseph); and his many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
