Obituary
Donald “Pops” Jacobs, 82, of Longwood, FL, passed away peacefully at his home on January 20th , 2021. He is survived by his wife Sandy and their children.
Don was born on March 14th, 1938 to Fred and Emma Jacobs in N.Y., New York. He was an only child.
Don was a mischievous youngster, getting caught roller skating inside the Jewish Community Center in Buffalo with his friend (and future brother-in-law). He attended the University of Buffalo where he majored in Business and minored in Psychology. He always had a passion for technology, which led to a long (30+ years) and successful career at Martin Marietta. As one of the pioneers of “blown fiber” Don also started his own company, CCSI, which he ran for 10 years.
Don met his wife, Sandy ,thru his friendship with her brother, Tom. Sandy was in nursing school when she was 18 and they were married before she turned 20. Soon thereafter, they started their family. Don was a loving and devoted father to 4 children, Greg, Karen, David (spouse Ellen), Lori (spouse Tony). He was also blessed with 6 grandchildren Christopher, Alexa, Caleigh, Lauren, Anthony and Aaron. Don and Sandy were married for 62 years.
Don loved having a large family. In addition to numerous family gatherings, Don loved traveling and camping from coast to coast, water skiing, snow skiing, and cruises with the family. He was also a devoted Miami Dolphins fan.
The family is having a private service on Monday, January 25th at Glen Haven Memorial Park to celebrate Don’s life.
