Obituary

Donald Roy Libby passed away peacefully on November 11, 2021 at Tidewell Hospice Care in Sarasota, Florida. Don was born on January 26, 1938 in Melrose, Massachusetts. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Evelyn, son David, brother Richard Libby, brother-in-law Dennis Eady and sister-in-law Lois Eady, niece Heather (Eady) Germond and nephew Thomas Eady. He is also survived by relatives in Las Vegas and the New England area. Don graduated from Northeastern University in Medford, Massachusetts with an engineering degree. He then married Evelyn and resided in Magnolia,  Massachusetts for about 30 years and then moved to Laconia, New Hampshire to enjoy the lake life of sailing and the Harley riding life with a wide array of great friends. After several years in the cold, they decided to make Venice, Florida their permanent home to be close to Evelyn’s sister Lois, and brother-in-law Dennis,  nieces and nephews. His love for his Wheaten Terriers went throughout the years and his current sidekick “Sunny” has his new forever home with Don’s great nephew, Marshall Germond.  Per Don’s wishes, he will be cremated and his final resting place will be with his parents, Ira Libby and Bertha (Jones) Libby at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, 185 Lake Street, Peabody, Massachusetts. He encouraged everyone to celebrate his life in the ways you remember him best; with Love and among family and friends as often as you can, celebrating life!

When I think of happy memories over the past 30 years, Daytona Don and Evo are in almost every one. I can't imagine a better friend than Don was to everyone who knew and loved him. One of my favorite memories was cross country skiing through the woods between my condo and Don/Evo's when they lived at South Down in Laconia, the hot tub was always on, and Don was always the life of the party with his smiles, welcome, and always good cheer! You are greatly missed, Don Libby, but I know you continue to be the life of the party and good friend to all on the other side. Here's to when we meet again one day!

Don did it all!! His energy and kindness were boundless
