Obituary
Donald Arthur Lusch, 77, passed away on March 5, 2019 at his home in Estero, FL. With him at the time were his wife Lin, daughter Shelley, stepdaughter Willow, and his ever faithful cat, Josie. Don was born July 20, 1941 in Marion, OH. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Vivian, and their son, Kirk.
Don graduated from The Ohio State University with his Bachelors of Science in Agriculture in 1963. He received his Masters of Science in Adult/Extension Education -Special Problem Emphasis “A Guide to Training of 4-H Program Aides” from Iowa State University in 1970. He worked with Extension Services and as an Extension 4-H Youth Leader in Ohio, Iowa, and Michigan. Don retired after serving 4-H for 33 years, the last 20 years as the 4-H Youth Development Agent of Calhoun County.
Don was an avid reader, with an emphasis on political biographies and politics in general. He always enjoyed a spirited, yet friendly political discussion. He also had a very sharp wit and was humorously sarcastic. These traits endeared him to many.
He enjoyed the comradery of playing Bocce, both in the men’s league and the mixed league. His mixed league team (partner was Lin) won the club championship last year!
Don is survived by his wife Lin, daughter Shelley and Jim Gabel, step son Matt and Nancy Kile, step daughter Willow Green. Grandchildren include Jacob, Mitchell and Leigh Gabel; Adam, Brandon and Kyle Lusch; Lukas and Corrin Kile. He also is survived by his sister Carole Schwartz, numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place. The memorial service is scheduled for Sunday, March 24th, 2019, 1:30 pm at the Marshall United Methodist Church, 721 US Hwy 27 N., Marshall, Michigan 49068
