Doris D Smith, 92, Deland FL died Wednesday, August 15, 2012. Doris was born in Valley City, North Dakota. She was a 1942 graduate of Augustana College in Rock Island Illinois with a Bachelors Degree.
Doris and her husband retired to New Smyrna Beach in 1991 coming from Morgantown, West Virginia. Then in 2002 they moved to DeLand. They are former members of Trinity Lutheran Church New Smyrna Beach and current members at Faith Lutheran Church in DeLand. She was also a member of PEO Sisterhood.
Doris and her husband of 69 years Dr Robert Smith produced four children Steven Smith, Martin Smith, Julia Smith Tranner and Melanie Smith Johnson, ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, August 18 at Lutheran Retirement Center 450 N McDonald Avenue DeLand. The Reverend Arthur Wuertz will officiate. Committal will be at a later date at Aledo Cemetery in Aledo, Illinois.
