Obituary
Dorothy Miriam Barnes age 79 of Ocala, Florida, passed peacefully, on May 26, 2024.
She was born in Thornton, St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, West Indies on August 1, 1944, to Maxwell and Muriel Crosse. She married George Washington Barnes in December 1978.
She migrated to New York, United States of America in 1982. She worked at various places to include, American Express; Banker’s trust; Dowling College; Long Island, Harlem, and Lincoln hospitals as a Procurement Analyst; and retired in 2013. She also worked at New York University as a proctor for several years. She lived in Brooklyn and Elmont, New York and attended St. Matthew Church in Brooklyn and St. Boniface in Elmont. In 2015, she relocated to Ocala, Florida.
Dorothy Miriam Barnes is survived by her husband, George, her mother Muriel, her siblings Miranda and Patrick, her daughters Claudene and Annmarie, her grandchildren Tyann, Bryan, Elijah, and Elisha, her sons-in-law Stephen and Gosnel, brothers and sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, and numerous other family members. She is preceded in death by her father Maxwell, her sister Barbara, her brothers James and Maxwell.
Viewing services have been scheduled for Friday, June 7, 2024 from 5:00PM-7:00PM at Baldwin Brothers Funeral & Cremation Society, 11250 SW 93rd Ct. Rd. Ste. 300, Ocala, Florida 34481. Mass is scheduled for June 8, 2024, 10:00 am at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, 5 SE 17 Street, Ocala, Florida 34471. Following Mass, burial will follow at Good Shepherd Memorial Gardens 5050 SW 20th Street, Ocala, Florida 34474 at NOON. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Baldwin Brothers Funeral & Cremation Society- Timber Ridge Ocala Chapel.
