Obituary
Dorothy R. Hansel, age 84, died of complications from a stroke on October 25, 2024, in Winter Park, FL.
Dot is survived by her four siblings, Jim Hansel (Pat) of Loxley, AL, Tom Hansel of Pearl, MS, Ann McIntosh of Orlando, FL, and Judy Ashley (Pete) of McAlpin, FL. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Dot was born on December 29, 1939, in Hazlehurst, MS, to parents James and Orlise Hansel. After graduating from high school in MS, she attended nursing school in New Orleans, LA, where she graduated with a degree as a registered nurse. She moved to Orlando, FL, in the mid-sixties and worked in nursing there for over fifty years. Many of those years were spent in pediatric nursing.
She was actively involved in her church for the majority of her life. Also, she enjoyed family and friends, reading, and helping others.
Dot will always be remembered as a kind, considerate and thoughtful sister, aunt and friend.
She will be laid to rest in the Memorial Garden at First Baptist Church of Orlando.
