Obituary

A truly great man has left us today but his presence will always be felt amongst his family and friends.   Doug Jackson, born June 6, 1939 in Syracuse, NY and formerly of Billerica, MA, passed away August 14, 2014.  He is survived by his beautiful wife Suzanne (Roeber), sweethearts for over 52 years!  Doug was the beloved father of both Phillip Jackson and his wife Sherry Jackson of Cotuit, MA and Kim Carr and her husband Mike Carr of Canton, GA.  He was also the loving grandpa to Joey and Jenna Carr.  He was the son of the late Clifford and Clara Jackson of Syracuse, NY and brother to Judy Gilchrist and husband Richard of Naples, FL and the late Sue Hodge of Tully, NY.  Doug will always be remembered for his zest for life and always finding time to help a fellow man.  Doug was a true family man who was always there to provide his family with the best quality of life he possibly could.  Family vacations were always to places never traveled before as Doug wanted to see as much this great country he was so fond of, as well as far and away places.  Doug enjoyed building his successful engineering sales business after graduating from the Milwaukee School of Engineering. He also enjoyed tinkering with just about anything.  He enjoyed boating, flying his Cessna plane, gardening, woodworking in his workshops, traveling the world including the Maine coast, and up to his illness, playing golf at The Villages.  Doug served his country with great honor in the United States Navy and we salute his fellow servicemen and women, both past and present!  The family will celebrate his life next summer in Maine.   Donations in his memory are suggested to be sent in memory of Douglas Jackson to The Villagers For Hospice, 601 Casa Bella, The Villages, FL 32162 http://villagersforhospice.org/ or you may also make donations to the Adult Brain Tumor Research Fund and mail it to: Dana Farber Cancer Institute, ATTN: Dr. Wen, NeuroOncology Dept., 450 Brookline Ave, Boston, MA 02215   He will be sorely missed!
