Obituary

Douglas Gordon Hart, age 64, of Toms river, NJ was born December 25, 1957 and passed away May 19, 2022. He was an amazing selfless man who loved his family dearly and always put them first. He was the life of our family parties, especially at every holiday. He was a Christmas baby, so he went all out every year. He would build a life size sleigh with wrapped presents on display in the front yard, even dressing up like Santa for all the children. He loved to host party after party inviting everyone in the family including half the neighborhood. Growing up he was a bit of a wild child and loved doing adventurous things with his friends like skydiving- he loved to fly! He loved four wheeling, riding around in his Jeep, and spending time with his closest friends: Brian McGuire, Mike Anderson, and Mark Hartmann. He also loved ocean, camping, fishing, taking pictures of sailboats, and had the most fun building his train sets.  As he got older, he developed a love for cooking. His Christmas pineapple and cherry hams were amazing! Anyone on social media can still scroll through pictures of his incredible dishes. He was also a lover of white wine and great music- Billy Joel being his favorite!

For many years, Doug worked as a land surveyor with his father, later working for a company out of Lakewood, NJ before retiring due to his diagnosis with cancer. He was strong and brave until the very end when the Lord called him home. He is preceded in death by his parents Gordon and Julia Hart. He is survived by his two sisters: Evelyn Hart McKinney-Jasper and Donna Kiefer; two brothers: Kevin Hart and Paul Snyder; 4 children: Douglas Hart Jr., Joseph Lopez, Amanda Hart and Daniele Holland; twelve grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was loved and cherished by so many and will always and forever be the “hart” of our entire family.

Douglas was cremated at Baldwin Brothers: A Funeral & Cremation Society in Cape Coral, FL.  A memorial service and scattering of his ashes will take place Saturday July 30, 2022 in Key West, Florida at approximately 7pm.

Doug worked with us for 6 years at Lindstrom, Diessner & Carr in Brick, NJ. He was a valued employee and will always be a friend to many of us here. Some of us spoke to him no more than 2 months ago. We saw him just a few months ago, at most. Our hearts go out to his family. He was a good man, indeed.

He was so much more than I knew. The miles and yesrs separating us for a long time. Two years ago I realized the fragility of life and we became re-acquainted. I’m so grateful and I discovered much we had much in common especially Facebook food photos. Say hi to our family in heaven. I’m sure they were there to greet you!
