Obituary

Dr. Margaret R. Martin (Cape Coral, FL) formerly of Sarasota, FL, Hastings-on-Hudson, NY and Hampton Bays, NY. Peacefully passed away on May 19, 2023 after a long hard-fought battle with Parkinson’s.
Margaret Martin received her B.A. in English from Parsons College (1959), her Masters in Communications (1961) from Syracuse University in 1968 received her PhD in Communications. Her post-Doctoral studies were at the Alfred Adler Institute, New York, NY.
Her career included; Research Coordinator for Educational Development Laboratories of McGraw Hill in Huntington, NY, Professor of English and Director of Public Information at Parsons College Fairfield, IA and Professor of English at Cuyahoga Community College, Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Martin served as Professor of Psychology and Chairperson of the Developmental Studies Department at Rockland Community College of the State University of New York for 25 years. She was awarded Professor Emeritus status in 1995.
Her life was committed to helping her students fulfill their highest education goals as well as to help prepare them for their lives outside of school.
She was preceded in death by Dr. Janet R. Brown, her spouse of 6 years and life partner for over 50 years. She is survived by her brother-in-law, Ken (and Mary) Brown, nieces; Jackie (and Rick) Smith and Debi Brown and her great nephew, Tanner (and Morgan) Lemke.
