Obituary
Dr. Satloo B. Vanduuren, aged 89, passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 3, 2024, in Daytona Beach, Fla., following a brief illness. She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Benjamin L. Vanduuren, who passed away on November 1, 2003, in New York City, NY. Satloo was also preceded in death by her parents, Ramchand and Drupadi Gurbaxani, and her brothers, Govind Gurbaxani and Ashok Gurbaxani, all of Bombay, India.
Satloo Vanduuren was an accomplished Indian classical dancer and a dedicated research chemist at Hoffmann-La Roche, Inc., in Nutley, N.J. She earned her master’s and doctoral degrees in Chemistry from New York University. In August 2004, she honored the memory of her late husband by donating 12 acres in northwestern Marion County, Fla., for a passive park.
Her passing is deeply mourned by her sister Kamal Bhavnani, her nephew Sushil Bhavnani (Latha) and their family in Auburn, Ala., as well as by several nieces and their families in Melbourne, Australia, Santa Rosa, Calif., and the Gurbaxani family residing in Bombay.
The family would like to thank Mike and Tammy Jeffers, of Daytona Beach Shores, Fla., who through their acts of kindness and dedicated care, reinforced a bond that transcended mere neighbors. Satloo is fondly remembered by her dear NYC neighbor, Richie Brown.
Met her many years back and remember her as a very bubbly person.
Our condolences to the family. May her soul rest in peace.
