Obituary

On Saturday, 29 August 2020, Earl Hutton, devoted husband and father, passed away at the age of 79 and was welcomed by Christ’s loving arms. Earl was born on 22 December 1940 in Grand Forks, North Dakota, the oldest son to William and Dorothy (Hart) Hutton.  He was the second of thirteen brothers and sisters growing up on a farm in the Red River Valley of North Dakota.  Earl married Patricia O’Keeffe in 1960, and they have five sons, eleven grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. After moving to Minnesota in 1968, Earl provided for his family working in electric equipment sales while also using his broad skills to serve others through HVAC installations.  Whenever there was a need in the home, Earl was the first to turn to in developing creative solutions to daily challenges.  He is most known for his gentle, kind spirit and optimism that allowed him to connect with others, whether in a board room or on a construction site.   Earl loved gathering with family and enjoying the outdoors, progressing from tents to campers to a cabin in northern Minnesota. He never missed the opportunity to help family, whether bringing in the beet harvest or helping to run wiring in the home.  One of his many legacies of faithfulness is characterized by over 180 years of marriage in three generations of Hutton’s starting with Earl and Pat.

Earl was preceded in death by his father, William, and mother, Dorothy, as well as his brother, Dick, and sisters, Marilyn and Mary Jean.  He was also proceeded by his two sons Daniel and Dennis, who died shortly after birth.  He is survived by his wife, Pat, his sons, Dave, Ron, and Rod and their families, as well as six brothers, three sisters, and almost countless cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 23rd, 2020, at the Church of the Risen Savior in Burnsville, MN.  Cards may be sent to 14832 Interlachen Lane, Burnsville, MN 55306, or donations made in Earl’s name to the American Cancer Society.
