Obituary
Walter “Ed” Higgins, age 84, of Ocala, FL, passed away suddenly on November 20, 2023, at his residence. Ed was born in Plattsmouth, NE to his parents, Walter and Helen Higgins. He was a self-made man. Ed married his high school sweetheart, Rita, in 1958 and started his journey raising his family with numerous moves across the country. He was such a generous man (behind the scenes) and always helping family and friends in their time of need. Ed loved antiquing and was always on the go; sitting still was not in his vocabulary. He instilled in his children to work hard, stand up for what was right, and never to back down from a challenge. Ed was very proud of his children and how they grew into adulthood. He leaves a huge hole in our hearts, and he was truly one of a kind.
Ed is survived by his daughter, Janice White of Ocala, FL; son, Jerry Higgins of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren, Tara Brownfield, Kaycee White, Rory Higgins, Connor Higgins; great grandchildren, Zebb, Caleb, Odin, Storm, Noah, and one on the way; brothers, Jim Higgins, Dennis Higgins, Gary Higgins; and sister, Janice Dill.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Rita Higgins; daughter, Carolyn Higgins Harris; father, Walter “Skip” Higgins; mother, Berla “Helen” (Snodgrass) Higgins; and brothers, Ted Higgins, Terry Higgins, and Roger Higgins.
