Obituary

Lenore Hodges was born Edith Lenore Schmid on March 26, 1938 and went to rest in the Lord on November 25, 2019.  Lenore received her bachelor’s degree in Home Economics from Emmanuel Missionary College (Andrew’s University).  She married her first husband, Robert Duane McEndree in 1958. While they raised four children together, Lenore went on to earn her Master’s degree in Dietetics from Illinois University, and her Doctorate degree in Dietetics from the University of Nebraska. She taught nutrition to nursing students and served as a Director of Foods and Nutrition from Florida Hospital in, where she had served for 21 years. After her retirement in 2004, she counseled cancer patient in nutrition for M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. Her life was dedicated to teaching others about the importance of health and nutrition and was a pioneer in the Vitamin D movement.  Lenore was a lifelong Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Christian, served as Sabbath School teacher, Church Elder and Board Member. She was highly active in the SDA General Conference Nutrition Committee and the Seventh-day Adventist Dietetics Association, as well as the American Dietetics Association.   She was preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Robert Ray Hodges in 2018.  She is survived by her brother, William Schmid and his wife, Jeanne Schmid; by two daughters, Cheryl Y. McEndree-White and her spouse Joe White, Caryl N. McEndree and fiancé Eli Chamberlain; two step-daughters, Jennifer D. Struble and her spouse Shaun Struble and Torri K. Hodges;  two sons Christopher E. McEndree and Charles D. McEndree and his wife Terri McEndree.  She also loved her precious grandchildren, Rachel A. McEndree, Ryan A. McEndree, Robyn McEndree Stebbins and her husband Jordan Stebbins, and Christopher R. McEndree of Florida, Cheyenne Hodges of Texas and Parker Cottrell of Ohio. Lenore had many friends and extended family that loved and cherished her, as she worked tirelessly to understand people and give them the unconditional love of Christ until her last breath. Go rest high on that mountain, mom.

 

Viewing will be on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at 3pm at Spring Meadows Adventist Church, 5783 N Ronald Reagan Blvd, Sanford, Florida followed by the funeral service at 4pm.  Gravesite service and internment will be held 10 am Sunday, December 1, 2019 at Highland Memory Gardens, 3329 E Semoran Blvd, Apopka, FL.
