Obituary

Edward Donald Gilblair, “Little Eddie”, passed away with his family by his side on March 13, 2018. Eddie was born on March 14, 1992 to Edward F. Gilblair and Kandace D. Zuber. Eddie had battled cystic fibrosis his whole life. He courageously survived a double lung transplant in November 2015.  Eddie’s greatest pleasure was working in construction with heavy machinery. He had most recently been employed by Apex Trucking in Orange City, Florida. He was a valued and loved employee.  Eddie will also be remembered for his love of NASCAR, specifically, Jeff Gordon, building models, creating his own accessories for the models and Scooby Doo. He loved playing cards and board games and spending time with friends. Eddie struggled every day to live life to the fullest despite his daily battle with this awful disease. Eddie is survived by his Mother, Kandace, Step-dad, Andy, Sister, Ali, Aunt Brandi Saltzman and her husband, Brian of VT, Grandparents, Gloria and Ralph Lasky of Orange City, Florida and Deanna Gilblair of Skowhegan, as well as many great aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Edward Gilblair and grandfathers, Donald Gilblair and Roger Brumley.  Eddie’s greatest gift was his ability to touch so many people’s hearts with his smiling eyes and infectious laugh. He will always be remembered by the doctors and nurses, as well as his racing family and pirate crew.  A Celebration of Eddie’s Life will be held at 1 pm on Sunday, May 6, 2018 at the Federated Church in Skowhegan, Maine.

To Eddie's family, we are so sorry to hear of your loss. My Mom and Dad, the Cooks who were Eddies neighbors were always amazed by Eddie,s ability to operate heavy equipment at such a young age. They also loved to see him walking his dog in the stroller when he was a young boy. May your pleasant memories bring you comfort at your time of loss.
