Obituary
Edward Martin Mahon, Jr. 72
August 28, 1947 – March 21, 2020.
On Saturday, March 21, 2020, Edward Martin Mahon, Jr., devoted husband and loyal friend to many, passed away peacefully with his loving wife, Maureen, at his side.
Born in New Brunswick, New Jersey to Edward Mahon, Sr. and Georgia Mahon, Edward discovered his love of music at the age of 7 when he received his first acoustic guitar. By the age of 13, he was playing bass guitar with bands throughout the area. His passion for music took him on the road with a country band for 2 years, touring throughout the U.S. and Canada. Fondly referred to as “Mr. Ed” by many of his band mates, he played acoustic guitar and bass guitar for the next 65 years and always found happiness with whomever he played with. Edward proudly served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1966-1969. Although his time there was a life changing experience, his kind demeanor and positive outlook remained unchanged. He was a member of Local Union #9 Plumbers and Pipefitters for 50 years. After his retirement in 2003, Ed enjoyed riding his touring bikes and motorcycles, as well as his favorite TREK bicycle which he rode daily most of his life. Throughout their marriage, Ed and Maureen enjoyed many cruises with dear friends. His outgoing personality and love of people
and food made him want to travel. His fondest memories of his retirement were of the times he and Maureen spent traveling the Western U.S. and spending time with many of their friends in Arizona and Nevada.
Edward was preceded in death by his father Edward Mahon, Sr. and mother Georgia Mahon. He is survived by his adoring wife of 30 years, Maureen, many cherished family members and an abundance of remarkable friends. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans at DAV. org.
Ed was a gentleman and a friend to everyone. Loved his positive attitude and his warmth. Will miss playing music with him for sure. Such a gifted musician. I will miss our daily morning coffee visits when in AZ. So grateful to God for bringing Ed and Maureen into our lives.
Maureen, you are in our thoughts, hearts and prayers.
I am terribly sorry for your loss. While I cannot sum him up in words, Ed such a wonderful and generous person. He was always tremendously encouraging of my music as a child, something that undoubtably helped enkindle that love and choice of career later in life. It was always clear that you both love each other so much and modeled what true commitment means to all you encountered... three decades of love that inspired us all . You remain in our prayers.
Love, Kim, Jim & Sarah

Ed gave so much to others without ever asking anything in return. Through his military service, countless years as a plumbing professional, musician and great friend he never asked for anything, except maybe an extra piece of chocolate cake when Maureen was not looking.
His loss has left a hole in our heart but we cannot help smiling a little at the thought of him telling St. Peter he has the wrong bathroom fixture and playing his guitar while singing with the angels in heaven. God speed my friend.
Maureen, you will be in our thoughts and prayers. You and Ed made a great team. We will always be there for you.
