Obituary

Edward Leon Mettel Jr, of Orlando, Florida passed away on July 7, 2024.

Edward, also known as Lonny, was born in Aurora, Illinois with his parents and older sister, Linda. While attending Edgewater High School, he played many sports, including basketball and recreational softball. Shortly after high school, Lonny pursued a career as a master electrician , where he continued to work for 45 years. He had the opportunity to work for Brite Electric, which is owned by his best friend since first grade, Ed Wolek.

Lonny’s passion  was his work and helping others. He loved his children and adored his granddaughter. Lonny loved the Christmas season and enjoyed looking at Christmas lights, as well as setting off fireworks for the 4th of July. His warm smile and gentle demeanor always make everyone feel at home. Lonny loved taking trips to the beach and playing golf.

Lonny is survived by his children, Suzanne Mettel, Scott (Jean) Mettel, his granddaughter Mackenzie Mettel, his younger sister Leanne (Cindy) Mettel. He was preceded in death by his parents and older sister, Linda Tomlinson.

There will be a celebration of life August 17th at the College park community center 11am-1pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider a plantable plants as lonny loved.

    I still can't believe he's gone. He will be sorely missed. My thought and prayers are with his family.
