Obituary

Edwin Schacherer III – 73 years of age, passed away peacefully with his significant other, Sue Hanna and his siblings: Don Schacherer – twin brother from Cypress, Texas; sister Sue Ellen Kneiper from Las Vegas, Nevada; and Tim Schacherer from Frisco, Texas. Ed’s siblings were by his side when he passed. He is survived by his three children; Edwin Schacherer IV – from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Laura Schacherer from Portland, Oregon, and Michelle Schacherer from Des Moines, Iowa.

Ed was a great benefit to the Oak Run community as he served as a member of the security force in the development. He had daily contact with the residents where he was respected, and loved. Many community members were shocked by his sudden death, and have stopped by to express their appreciation for all the care and assistance that Ed provided.

Father O’Doherty from Queen of Peace Catholic Church, conducted a service at the home prior to his passing with his siblings present. Ed requested no other services be provided but a celebration of life gathering at a later date.

Ed was a veteran who served with distinction in the U.S. Navy where he served on a nuclear submarine from 1969 – 1973.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Hospice of Marion County Florida.

Dear Sue, family and friends of Ed,
On behalf of the United States Submarine Veterans, we offer our sincere condolences at Ed´s passing. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. We are always saddened whenever a fellow "Bubblehead" departs on Eternal Patrol. He served with honor in the U.S. Submarine Force.
To our "Brother-of-the-Phin" we say, "Sailor, rest your oar. We have the watch. Fair Winds and Following Seas." Thank you for your service to our country.
Sue and family... "may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in every way. The Lord be with you." 2 Thessalonians 3:16 (ESV).
