Obituary
We are sad to announce the passing of Eileen Mary Theresa Blaess, 76, of Orlando. Spouse, mother, and grandmother she leaves a void in our hearts none can fill. Eileen passed peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family on Aug 15, 2024.
She was born May 9, 1948 to Charles and Stephania (Kolakowski) Jacoby in Philadelphia, PA. Loving sister to Clare (Upham), Richard, and Maryann who sadly passed days after birth.
In 1963 she would meet the love of her life George Edwin Blaess in McPherson Square. They married Nov. 26, 1966, and stood by each other’s side for over 60 years. Together they would raise their son George (Spouse Joyce) and daughter Aimee (Spouse James) Guyett. They would become grandparents to grandson’s George and Timothy Blaess, and James Guyett; and granddaughters Stephania and Samantha Guyett.
Eileen graduated from Little Flower Catholic High School, Philadelphia, PA. There she would enjoy singing in the glee club, a joy she would continue with many nights spent singing Karaoke. George and Eileen would move to Orlando, FL, after living briefly in Hammonton, NJ, in 1988, after falling in love with the area following their first trip. She was blessed to be joined in Florida by her best friend from elementary school Cathy, living just yards away in Gulf Stream Harbor. She enjoyed travelling to Vegas to gamble and eating at the buffets. Always the avid deal hunter, she funded these trips through her love of coupons, bargain shopping, and completing surveys. While they lived in Florida their hearts remained in Philadelphia. Devoted Eagles fans, they would spend many Sundays at the local Eagles bars in Orlando, cheering on the team. Throughout her life she would hold many jobs in data entry, but none was more important or rewarding to her than caring for her family.
Eileen is survived by her husband George, son George, daughter Aimee, sister, and 5 grandchildren. Rest in peace among the angels, you have earned your wings.
Services will be held at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church, 4301 S Chickasaw Trail, Orlando, FL, on Sep 21st at 1:30 pm with a reception to follow at the Gulf Stream Harbor club house. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to the Converse Animal Shelter, Converse, TX (https://www.mynewbestfriend.org/) or Kolony Kats Philadelphia, PA (Paypal: kolonykats@yahoo.com ; Venmo: /kolonykats)
She was always so kind and helpful to all. She was a great friend! May she rest in God's loving arms.
