Obituary

Our precious mother, Eileen Lackman Hansel, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2019 at the age of 92. She was born at home on August 4, 1927. She is predeceased by her parents Mary and George Lackman, her sisters Ann, Esther, Kate, Rosemary, Elizabeth, Beatrice and her brothers George and Louis. She is also predeceased by her husband Robert who went to be with the Lord six years ago. Mom was wonderfully devoted to our dad. They were married 62 loving years.

Mom is survived by her children, Sandy (Gary) Henson, Doug Hansel, Karen (David) Stephenson and Jill (Rick) Gibson as well as her 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Mom grew up during the depression and had very little, but she gave much. She volunteered with the American Red Cross wrapping bandages for the wounded servicemen and worked with The Little Sisters of the Poor cooking and serving food to the hungry. She also had a job checking parachutes to make sure they were safe for our military during the war. Her love for veterans and active-duty military never ceased and her patriotism for her country continued throughout her life.

She was a long-time member of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church and happily served in a variety of roles over the years.

Funeral services will be held November 15 at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church at 5890 Buckwheat Rd, Milford, OH 45150. Visitation is at 9am followed by a 10am mass.

Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 11000 Montgomery Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45249

For those who wish, in lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to Little Sisters of the Poor, 476 Riddle Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45220 or St Jude Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38148.
