Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Eileen Lila Selis on February 2, 2025, at the age of 89.
Eileen met the love of her life, George, in 1953 at the Pink Elephant Bar in Brooklyn. Though her sister intended to introduce her to someone else, fate had other plans. She met George and seven months later, they married in Wilkes-Barre, PA, beginning a 71-year love story filled with devotion, laughter, and unwavering partnership. When they disagreed, George’s simple solution was to say, “Yes, dear. You’re right, and I’m sorry.” That, they agreed, was the key to their long and happy marriage.
Eileen is survived by her beloved husband, George; son Mark (Sarasota); her former daughter-in-law Terry (Orlando); her son, Scott & his wife Kimberly (Ormond Beach); her grandchildren Ryan & Katie (Washington, DC); Shannon (New York City); Aaron & Lauren (Sarasota); Melody & William (Safety Harbor); Danielle & Dennison (Ormond Beach); ustin & Kevin (Orlando); and six adored great-grandchildren.
Eileen was born and raised in Wilkes-Barre, PA., When she and George married, she moved to Brooklyn, New York, where she worked as a secretary on Wall Street while also helping run The Klink in Brighton Beach, a fun dining establishment. She then moved to North Miami Beach and later Sunrise, where she worked as a legal secretary and helped George run The Humdinger, a fast food burger joint in Miami Beach. In 1975, she and George moved to Ormond Beach to take over Beltone Hearing Aid Centers, where Eileen played a crucial role in its success.
Eileen’s generosity and kindness extended far beyond her family. She ran a blind Boy Scout troop in Brooklyn, was active in Temple Israel’s Sisterhood, and later became a founding member of Congregation B’nai Torah in Ormond Beach, where she served on the board and led the Sisterhood for nearly two decades.
Music was always part of Eileen’s soul. She first sang on the radio at age 10, and her love for Patsy Cline’s “Crazy” remained strong throughout her life. To her family, though, nothing was more cherished than the sound of her singing “I love you, a bushel and a peck.”
Eileen’s love, kindness, and song will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew her. A celebration of her life was held on February 4, 2025. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Congregation B’nai Torah.
May her memory be a blessing.

My thoughts are with George, I know he is wondering how he will navigate life without her, but I know that Mark and Scott and their families will be there to guide him.
Eileen was always kind, funny, giving and loving - there is a special place in Heaven for her and you will all be reunited, in time.
Her light lives on in all of our memories.
