Einar Charles Norman (98) of Country Club Manor, Eustis, Florida, passed away on August 24th, 2023. He was surrounded by his sons, Ben and Charlie and their wives, BJ and Cindy.

Einar was born on January 10, 1925, to Einar and Mary (Rulfs) Norman in Kansas City, Missouri. At age 17, in 1942, Einar enlisted in the US Navy where he served honorably for the next twenty years achieving the rank of Chief Petty Officer. In his early Navy career, he was a salvage diver and underwater demolition specialist. In his later career, he became an electrician serving on submarines and aircraft carriers.

After retiring from the Navy in 1962, he pursued a successful second career as a copy machine technician for the Xerox Corporation. He met, and married his beloved wife, Estelle Elizabeth White after attending a Naval school in Maryland in 1956. Together with Estelle’s son Benjamin, they moved to Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, where their son Charlie was born in 1957.

After retiring from the Navy in 1962, he and his family returned to Maryland where they lived as he worked for Xerox in Maryland and Pennsylvania and Estell pursued her career as a Registered Nurse. Estelle passed away in January of 2001. Einar then relocated to Eustis, Florida where he would “never have to endure cold weather again!”

With the kind assistance of his many friends and neighbors at Country Club Manor, he was able to live independently until a few months before his passing.

He is survived by his two sons, their wives, five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

All are invited to a celebration of his life to be held at the Country Club Manor Clubhouse (30 Clubhouse Drive, Eustis, FL 32726) on Sunday, August 27, at 1:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, a donation, in his name, to Cornerstone Hospice, Inc., 2455 Lane Park Road, Tavares, FL, 32728, or a charity of your choice, would be appreciated.

Internment of his and Estell’s cremains will take place at the Monocacy Cemetery, Beallsville, MD at a future date to be decided.
