Obituary

Elaine J. Custer

“You are the wind beneath my wings”

With deep sorrow, we announce the sudden passing of Elaine J Custer, (86), on August 22, 2020 at Parrish Medical Center in Titusville, FL.

Loving wife of Dale L Custer for more than 43 years who has been her devoted caregiver during her last few years.  Her four children will forever be grateful for his loving care.  Mother of Gail (Edward) Malone of St. Augustine, FL, Diana Seymour of Carson City, NV, Mark Seymour and his wife Edie of Potsdam, NY and Michael Seymour and his wife Miriam of Titusville, FL.  She is also survived by her six grandchildren of whom she was immensely proud, one great granddaughter, her sister, Patricia of Loudon, TN, brother, Ronald of Massena, NY as well as Dale’s two daughters, Marcia Custer (John Garber) of Holladay, UT and Diana Custer of Titusville, FL and many additional family members and friends.

She graduated with high honors from high school where she played clarinet in the band and was an active member of many other groups.  In her 40s she returned to school fulfilling her lifelong goal of a college degree, no small task while also working full-time at NASA and raising her children.  At the time of her retirement in 1990 she was a NASA Procurement Officer.  She and Dale enjoyed many wonderful years in retirement travelling extensively throughout the country.  She would often say what a beautiful country we are fortunate to live in.  She enjoyed playing bridge, was an avid reader, an accomplished seamstress, knitted, crocheted and did needlepoint. She spent many years researching her family tree to the earliest settlers of New France and beyond; the record of which her family will always treasure.  She always said the best of times were anytime she spent with her family.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Myles, and a sister Jeannine.

COVID-19 makes it impossible to hold a service at this time.  A service and burial will occur in the spring or summer of 2021 in Malone, NY.  Details will be provided closer to that time.
