Obituary
Elaine Marie Peyton, 80, formally of Westbrook, CT and West Palm Beach, FL passed away peacefully at her home in Cape Coral, FL surrounded by her loving daughters on Saturday, March 12th, 2022. Elaine was born September 6th, 1941, in Hartford, Connecticut to the late Verne and Marie Johnson.
Elaine spent many happy years in Westbrook where she enjoyed her favorite hobbies of gardening and baking her famous pies. Elaine spent her life dedicated to raising her children, who were her prized procession. She reveled in being a part of her grandchildren’s lives, from the moment they were born. She enjoyed many glorious years of her life with Jerry traveling in their minivan to spend time with family, from the lakes of Minnesota to the shores of New England. Elaine was known to always have a bucket of her famous “Mimi Cookies,” waiting for her grandchildren to enjoy during their visits. Always attached to her hips were her precious pups, Lisa, Max, Mojo, and Attie. In the gentleness of her passing, when asked by one of the many pastors who came to visit and pray with her, Elaine described having her daughters and grandchildren by her side as “Just Awesome.” Her kind and gentle soul will live on with the endless memories we all have of Elaine.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her first husband Francis J. Spreda Sr. of Westbrook, CT (1987), as well as her beloved husband Jerry N. Peyton of Port Charlotte, FL (2016). Elaine is survived by her daughters, Christine Marie Calkins of Cape Coral, FL, Cheryleen Marie Calkins of Middletown, CT, and Laureen Marie DeLucco (Dan) of North Port, FL. She is also survived by her grandchildren whom she cherished, Christopher F. Hallahan and his wife Brittney, Cory Hallahan and his wife Mallory, Elijah Jones, Cydney Hallahan, and Daniele DeLucco, as well as her precious great-grandchildren Sawyer and Ellie. Elaine is also survived by her sister Anita Eby of West Palm Beach, FL, her two nieces Lisa and Tina and nephew Michael, as well as her brother, Michael and nieces Beth and Stacey. Elaine shared her heart not only with immediate family, but with her many close friends and church families of West Palm Beach, Florida.
Elaine’s Family would like to extend their heart felt gratitude to all the friends and family who reached out with love and support during her final days. A Memorial Service is planned for Elaine on May 24th, 2022, at 2pm at Neighborhood Worship Center, 6513 Dillman Road, Greenacres Florida 33413. The family requests that everyone attending the service to please wear bright and cheerful colors as Elaine loved to do herself. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Elaine’s memory to Hope Hospice, at Donate.HopeHCS.org.

Remembering your Mom in the garden and serenely cooking in the kitchen when we passed through as we rode around “the pit” with out horses. She gave you a half stern half laugh look when you’d use an accent and call her by her first name. I can only imagine how you evolved together through Life as Mother and Daughter and as Friends. To be by her side and see her off must have been heart breaking and yet heart filling as it was the Greatest gift one could give. Just like parenting. The hardest thing yet the greatest gift. She lovingly brought you into the World and you lovingly guided her out and into the next part of her journey. Sending you a virtual hug. “Friends, Countrymen…and whatever else we said in laughter” -Love Jackie. (My condolences to your entireextended family)
