Obituary

Eleanor “Ellie” was born in Gainesville, FL on 5/15/1934 and passed away at her home on 11/8/2022. Having lived all her life in Florida, she liked to refer to herself as “The Original Gator”!

Daughter of the late Robert and Winnie Quick (Apopka), she was preceded in death by her husband Frederick Palmer (Hull, England) and her loving sisters, Ruby Grantham (Mt. Dora) and Evelyn Isaac (Jacksonville).

Ellie is survived by her son Thomas Poole (Dunn, NC) daughter Janice Schaffer Heck (her husband Alan) of Tavares, and her 3 grandchildren, Sara (Patrick) Korb of Sugar Hill Ga., Hanna Schaffer of Camp Hill, PA and Joshua Schaffer of Anchorage, AK.

After graduating from Apopka High School in 1952, she began her working career at Minute Maid, followed by Apopka Growers Supply and ending at Lester Coggins.

Once retired, Ellie and Fred traveled extensively around the U.S. and Europe for many years. Later in life, she was most excited when family and friends got together to have good times with lots of laughter.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Umatilla and was thrilled to be a faithful viewer of their television ministry.
A “Celebration of Life” will be held early next year at the convenience of the family.
