Obituary

Elizabeth Ann (Betty) Bloomer, 66, of Port Orange, Florida passed away peacefully on December 26, 2016 at her residence after a nine-month bout with pancreatic cancer. She was born on November 6, 1950 in Teaneck, New Jersey to the late Elmer and Mary (Van Kalmthout) Steiger. She was also predeceased by her sister Ellen Werner and brother Robert Steiger.  Elizabeth worked as a Clerk in the banking industry during the early years of her marriage then became a full-time homemaker for her husband and children. She was an active Minister with the Christian Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Port Orange and spent many hours telling others about the wonderful hope of God’s Kingdom soon to come and its effect on all people. Soon after her husband’s retirement, Betty moved to this area with her family in 2008 from Peabody, Massachusetts.  She is survived by her loving husband of forty six years, Bill of Port Orange, Florida; her son, William Bloomer (Mark) of Dorchester Massachusetts; her daughter, Elise Garcia (Melecio) of Durham, North Carolina; her daughter, Christine Ashton (Eric) of Port Orange, Florida; her son, Matthew Bloomer (Julie) of Natick, Massachusetts; her son, Scott Bloomer (Jessica) of Port Orange, Florida; and her nine grandchildren Jillian Bloomer, Alex Bloomer, Lauren Bloomer, Gretchen Bloomer, Marley Bloomer, Malakai Ashton, Kobe Ashton, Joseph Bloomer, and Avery Bloomer. She loved all of her children and grandchildren dearly and was held in the highest esteem by each of them. Arrangements are in the care and trust of Baldwin Brothers Funeral Home and Cremation Society, Port Orange, FL.
