Obituary
Elizabeth (Betty) Arnold, formerly of Lynbrook, New York, passed away at home in The Villages, Florida, on Saturday, November 9, 2004. She was born April 18, 1942 to Herbert C. and Sigrid E. Fuchs, who preceded her in death. Betty grew up in Laurelton (Queens) New York and graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in 1960. She went on to graduate from Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School. She had met the love of her life, Robert (Bob), during those years in Laurelton through their mutual involvement at Epiphany Lutheran Church. Bob & Betty married in 1962 beginning a partnership that could not be broken. Betty & Bob raised their two sons (William & Edward) in Lynbrook, NY while continuing to pursue their love of music and Broadway theater.
Betty moved to the Villages with Bob in 1996. They were original residents of San Antonio Villas and never looked back. They dove into activities and watched the community expand around them. For years, Betty loved to be ushered around the ballroom dance floor by Bob as she sewed costumes for their routines, often driving to Orlando or Ocala to find the best dance floors. Betty & Bob were Founding members of Hope Lutheran Church, when they started meeting at Hacienda Center, before thoughts of breaking ground at the corner of Morse & 466 had materialized. Her involvement with that congregation has been the lifeblood of her time in The Villages including recent volunteer work with The Rock at the Lake Weir Elementary School.
Betty’s love for travel included countless trips to Europe & Asia with Bob and extended even beyond Bob’s passing in 2022 when she decided to take a solo trip to France. That trip, just 6 months before her passing, culminated with meeting her son in Paris. Betty’s journey ended in her home on Nov 9th after a rapidly progressing illness.Betty is survived by her son Edward, her sister Nancy, and her grandchildren Holly and Brady.
A celebration of her life will be held on January 19th from 2:00 – 4:00 at Baldwin Brothers- Spanish Springs. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to charities close to Betty’s heart: Hope Lutheran Church, The Rock: Lake Weir Elementary, Alzheimer’s Foundation.

You were one fantastic woman, wife, mother, daughter, and sister. You jumped into every stage of your life with both feet and were successful all along the way. In your career you were held in high regard by your peers for the fabulous work you did. I considered you the attorney! Then when you had your own time and interests you pursued them vigorously as well. You truly enjoyed life. You enjoyed your friends and family.
When you took this fabulous French trip this past year I was admiring your spunk and jealous I couldn’t have gone along, it was a beautiful experience.
You are the best sister in the world. You will always be my best friend, my confidant. We will be together again and be able to share the memories to many to include here. I dearly love you, and miss you and the almost daily communication we shared over our distance in miles.
I Love You, see you again soon.
Nancy
