Obituary

Elizabeth “Betty” McDede Bodrey, 83, passed away April 2, 2024, in Daytona Beach, FL. She was born in Plainfield, New Jersey in September of 1940 to parents Albert and Mary Taynor.

Betty was a member of the American Legion Post 120 Ladies Auxiliary. She was an avid Bingo player at the American Legion, where everyone called her “Mom”. She worked for many years within the Volusia County School system as well as Brooke Cleaners. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Betty is survived by her children, Terri Stout (Dave), Donna Terry (Jimmy), Douglas McDede (Priscilla), James McDede (Lisa), and Darren McDede (Lori), as well as 8 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, and her brother, Joseph Taynor (Kay). She was preceded in death by her mother and father, and her husband, Donald McDede.

Betty was our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and Sister. She will be greatly missed and will forever remain in our hearts.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Betty’s memory to the American Legion Post 120 or the Halifax Humane Society.

    Betty was my longtime friend who I always will treasure. Even though I hadn't seen her for a long time, we kept up with each other through Facebook. She was a lovely friend and I will miss her. Beautiful inside and out!
