I never personally met Elke, but we had do much in common...our love of birds, our homeland Germany & animals especially our Yorkies. During the last hurricane, Elke & Tony were still living in NY...I had no heat in my house and Elke invited me and my 10 birds to come stay
with her...she had a heart of gold!!! I miss her so much..I can't believe such a kind hearted lady was taken so quickly and too early...R.I.P. Elke and I am glad you are with Jasmine & Nina...

My friend Elke.....there are so many things I could say. I am so very grateful that I had the privilege of calling you friend. You've touched so many lives...probably more than you ever even knew. I still can't believe that someone so full of energy and vibrance can be gone so quickly. My heart goes out to Tony....you were definitely a great couple and both of you were so lucky to have each other. Something to be proud of...soul mates. You will truly be missed each and every day.

I loved Elke. She always was so 'happygolucky' and loving toward her Golden Conure pets and her other birds as well. I was both deeply shocked and saddened to hear the news of her passing, and will never forgot her, and her precious contribution to the the species of Golden Conures, both in her love given, her writings, videos and her conservation. May you rest in peace Elke, and may peace be over your family as well. - POMPOM -

God bless you all. Elke was a very dear friend, and left us all too soon. Her zest for life was inspiring. She was a pleasure to be around and Tony too. Together you two were an amazing couple that showed others what love and loving life was all about. You both lived in the "now" and didn't just wait for things to happen. That is something that too many people forget to do. I love you both and pray for you, Tony, Sandie, Richie and everyone else. Your mom was a true treasure and it was my pleasure and honor to have known her.
Elke was an avid member of the American Federation of AViculture (AFA), she will be missed by many (around the world).
    Love and prayers...

Elke I am still in shock over your death, I am having a hard time believing it. You were so full of life and everything new u encountered were showed so much excitement. I remember our trip to Syracuse and the fun we had... You had just called me to take in a bird that needed help. I am so honored you would contact me. You called recently as u were so concerned about me as u hadnt heard from me in awhile... You worried about everyone and u were such a great friend were always there if I need a question answered. Everyone became a better person for knowing you and having you in our lives. You never forgot about Hailey, my one 8 year old grandaughter and you always would ask how she was. You made a big impression on her as she always kept asking me to go to "Elkes house" Will miss you my friend but I know you will always be here in spirit and will guide me... thank you for everything my dear friend till we meet again and enjoy your Angel wings as you will enjoy soaring the sky with your feather babies.. this is not a goodbye but see you later.... love you always

Many memories of many times, both those good and those not quite as good, but all shared and survived. They all have been flooding in the last few days. I remember the various homes in which you and Ant lived in and how you made each one unique and definitely gave them your own marked style. You had a special knack for that. I remember the special meals you made whenever we met for dinner. I remember the introduction to kimchee at a restaurant, but I don't remember where it was. I remember shopping with you at the commissary in Watertown; breakfast at Alexandria Bay; watching you and Ant develop your home in Harrisville, basically from scratch. Building gardens and a fishing spot. Making a small paradise in a far-off north country land; hearing about you crashing into a tree on an ATV (?); your cute little sports car; watching Richie grow up; meeting Sandy and Stephen; Holidays at Mom's; sharing recipes; traveling with Dad to visit with you and Ant when Ant was sick; meeting with you and Ant through Mom and Dad's illnesses; watching you develop your love of birds and bird care and breeding; talking about your garage sales and other fund raising ideas, I could go on and on, but space will not allow. You were the best sister-in-law EVER! Love you! Marian
