Obituary

Ellen Knorr (née Morrissey), 72, of Rotonda West, passed away on January 17, 2023, with her two sons Timothy and Robert by her side. She is reunited in heaven with her late husband Eric Knorr, who passed in 2021.
She was born to the late Christopher and Catherine Morrissey (née Burns) in Queens, New York, on June 27, 1950. She grew up in the St. Alban’s neighborhood of Queens and graduated from Bishop Reilly High School in 1967.
In 1971 she married Samuel Hennon and moved to the Chicago area. There she began working for the Inland Steel corporation of East Chicago, Indiana, and made many friends through her kindness, charm, and sense of humor. In 1976, she gave birth to her first son Timothy Hennon. Ellen and Sam divorced in 1979.
She later met Eric Knorr, married him in 1988, and had her second son Robert Knorr in 1989. She then left Inland Steel to become a stay-at-home mother. After living in Crown Point, Indiana, for over 25 years, Eric and Ellen then built and moved in to a new house in Rotonda West, Florida in 2019.
While proud of her Irish ancestry, she was even prouder of her two sons, whom she loved and encouraged throughout her life. Her warmth and generosity made her not just a customer, but also a cherished friend to the staff and management of Studio 30 in Merrillville, Indiana, William B’s Steakhouse in Michigan City, Indiana, and Apulia Osteria Italiana in Placida, Florida. A big fan of classic Hollywood films and musicals, she never met a Fred Astaire – Ginger Rogers movie she didn’t like. She was an avid reader, especially of the works of Stephen King. She was also a “mommy” to several beloved cats over the years, and frequently donated to the Humane Society and other animal welfare charities. Ellen will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by many, both with two legs and with four.
Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Thomas, and her husband Eric. She is survived by her sister Regina Marchesano, her two sons Timothy Hennon and Robert Knorr, and several nephews, nieces, and cousins.
