Ellis Herbert Howland, 79, of New Smyrna Beach, died Monday, November 10, 2008 at Bert Fish Medical Center with his family by his side. Mr. Howland was born October 27, 1929 in Oak Hill, FL. He was a veteran with the US Army. Mr. Howland worked at the Cape Cavernal Space Station in Security for 38 years retiring in 1994. He was a devoted father and grandfather and enjoyed teaching them the good things in life. Ellis was an avid fisherman and often took the children camping. He was preceded in death by his parents, Garret and Lorriane Howland, Sr., brother, Garrett, Jr. “Buddy” and Lela Mae Avery. Ellis is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Patricia; eight devoted children, Franci Davis, Deborah Tims, Bart Turner, Patrick Turner, Cressy Brooks, Amy Selby, Heidi Howland and Darcy Howland; 16 cherished grandchildren, 11 adorable great grandchildren and three sisters, Margaret Robinson, Irene Howland and Jean Pitman.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations be made to Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trial, Port Orange, FL 32129
