    Ed Humm says:
Elmer was a first cousin. Our mothers were sisters in a close nit family of five children. Growing up the family spent all holidays together:Easter egg hunts,
exchanging Christmas presents, etc. Elmer was only 10 months older than myself and close in age to another cousin Edwin. I remember him as a good golfer in HS. On visits to our Grandfather he would sometimes bring along his clubs and hit golf balls (his old ones) across a lake in Crownlet Park,a short distance from our Grandfather's house. Graduating from HS, finding a full time job without first completing your military obligation was more difficult. Elmer asked to be drafted. They offered him his choice of Army or Navy. He said he told them
" I would rather walk than swim". He ended up in the Navy. Completing that he got a job with MET Life and became one of their top salesmen. He was always upbeat, liked talking with people, and had a good sense on humor. We both moved good distances from St, Louis and haven't kept in close contact but hear of each other from other cousins. I will think of Elmer kindly. Cousin Ed
