Obituary
Elmer Frederick Poburski passed away peacefully late Sunday, May 2nd in the care of Hospice of West Marion County, one week after his 92nd birthday.
Elmer was born on April 26, 1929 in Askam, Pa to the late Anna (Domanski) and Elmer F Poburski. His family moved to Succasunna,NJ in 1941 where he attended Roxbury High School and played football. In 1950 he married Betty Rose (Schaffer) of Wharton and they had two daughters, Sandy and Betty Ann. He was a machine builder for Lock Joint Pipe Company, and after retiring from there, he and Betty Rose first moved to Lady Lake, Florida before finally settling in Ocala, Fl.
Elmer was an avid golfer and a baseball fan. He loved the Mets and would faithfully watch the games whenever they were on. He and his wife loved to travel and would often drive throughout the United States, sometimes visiting Elmer’s childhood hero, Roy Rogers and his wife, Dale Evans while in California.
He will be greatly missed by his daughter and her husband, Sandy and Ray Kelly of Ocala, Fl, granddaughters Dawn Flatt and her husband Adam Leach of Western Massachusetts, and Lynn and her husband Joe Gonzalez of Wharton, NJ, as well as his great-grandson Joey, also of Wharton. He leaves behind by his loving nieces Pat and her husband Rich Morgan of Berkshire Valley, and Sherri Jones of Randolph, NJ. He will be missed by close friends Jean McConnell of Kenvil, NJ and Dot Sarsat of Succasunna, NJ.
He is predeceased by his mother and father Anna and Elmer, his loving wife of 65 years Betty Rose, his daughter Betty Ann, brother Carl Poburski, sister Florence Jones, his nephews Gerry Poburski and Barry Jones, a niece Joanne Poburski and his faithful dog Bootsie.
Elmer will be cremated and his remains will be placed at a later date next to his wife and daughter’s at Succasunna Presbyterian Church Cemetery in NJ.
