Obituary

Eloise L. Hawkins, 85, of Inverness, FL passed away August 31, 2020. She was born in Pontiac, MI to the late Floyd and Mildred (Van Alstine) Mattoon. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Hawkins and her son, Stephen Guy DeMeyer. Left to mourn is her brother, Floyd Keith (Florence) Mattoon; nieces, Anne Cooke (husband Gerald, deceased), Trudy (David) von Linsowe and Jacky (Brian) Bowman; boyfriend, William “Scotty” Stansell; grandchildren, Phillip (Jo) DeMeyer, Stephen and Aspasia Luster, Guyette “Nikki” Luster and Justus and Jessica DeMeyer; great grandchildren, Micco, Bella, Aiden, Kaleb, Eve, Elexus, Chloe, Odin, Savannah and many other loved ones.     I can only imagine the family reunion in heaven. Uncle Floyd Keith, your brother who you loved so much, made his journey to heaven February 8, 2021. I know you, Steve, Aunt Emmy, Auntie Al, and your parents were there to meet him at the gates. We all miss all of you so much! Until we all meet again, save us a seat <3

    Thinking of all the good times we had while I was growing up. It's almost Thanksgiving and I was thinking of how thankful I am that I had you as my mother. You were always there to listen and lend advice. I remember so much but mostly the selfless love you showed me my whole life. I would be so lucky to be just half the mom you were for me. I love and miss you so much. Wish we had just one more morning for coffee and shopping, like the old days.

    Aunt Eloise, you were always my second mom, as a baby, in my teens I could always come to you, as an adult. I miss our talks on the phone. I miss you. I love you always.

    When I think of you, I will remember the laughter and joy. Your stories of mischief, and the way you would tell them with twinkling eyes and giggles were the absolute best. So vividly told that even now I can picture you with a broken feather in your hair and it makes me smile.
    I love you dearly aunt Eloise and as promised, I will never forget you, and thinking about you will always bring a smile and a full heart. ❤️
