Obituary

Elton R. "Bob" Elder, 82, of New Smyrna Beach, FL was called home on August 1, 2012. Bob was born in Harrisonville, NJ and graduated from Woodstown High School in Woodstown, NJ.   He was a veteran of the United States Air Force where he served during the Korean War.   Prior to retiring to Florida in 1990, he was employed by Mobil Oil in Paulsboro, NJ where he retired after 30 years. He served on the Mantua Township Committee and co-founded the Rocking Horse Ranch Nursery School and Elder's Place Delicatessen, both located in Barnsboro, NJ. He was a season ticket holder for the Philadelphia Eagles, enjoyed NASCAR and was an avid bowler and boater.   Bob was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 61 years Doris L. Elder (nee Young) in 2011 and by his grandson Casey Silk in 2005. He is survived by his son and daughter in law Rob and Phyllis Elder of Barnsboro, NJ, his son and daughter in law Rick and Teresa Elder of Morristown, TN, his daughter Mindy Silk of Somers Point, NJ, and son and daughter in law Scott and Beverly Elder of Chipley, FL.   He is also survived by his grandchildren Terri and John Flint, Karen and Michael Doucette, Sean and Maanasi Silk, Bob and Joia Elder, Bill Elder and Steve Silk, and his great-grand children Joe and Alex Flint, James and Julia Doucette and Charlotte Elder and a large extended family.   A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, August 6 at the American Legion, Post 285, 4497 US 1, Edgewater, FL. In lieu of flowers the family requests that you thank a veteran for their service to our country.  A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, August 6 at the American Legion, Post 285, 4497 US 1, Edgewater, FL. In lieu of flowers the family requests that you thank a veteran for their service to our country.
