Obituary
Robert Eric Dubois of Winter Park, FL peacefully passed away in his sleep on July 18, 2023. Eric was born on May 7, 1973, in Winter Park, FL to Robert and Robin Dubois. Eric’s future athletic prowess was on display when he started walking at 8 months old. Eric spent part of his childhood in Mount Laurel, New Jersey. Two significant events took place in Mount Laurel. First, it was in the neighborhoods of Mount Laurel that Eric developed a life-long passion for athletics while playing neighborhood games of baseball and soccer with his friends. Second, Eric became a fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and more specific, a fan of Michael Jack Schmidt, who he maintains is the greatest baseball player of all time. He loved telling the story of going to see Mike Schmidt play third base at Veterans Stadium.
Eric’s family moved back to Winter Park where he was a standout athlete. Eric played baseball for Winter Park Little League, and especially enjoyed his time with the Orioles. He loved telling his nephews about those teams. Eric was a standout soccer player where he played defender and striker. Eric was known for his speed and tenacity on the pitch, but he was also known for his generosity sharing the ball and making sure all his teammates had opportunities to score goals. Eric was selected for the first youth club soccer team in Central Florida, Omni. Eric and his teammates competed against the best soccer clubs in the country, including games against the first US Women’s National Team.
Eric graduated from Winter Park High School in 1992 where he played baseball, football, soccer, and track. A medical issue prematurely and suddenly ended his soccer career. Eric turned the discipline and drive he displayed on the soccer fields to high level body conditioning and competitive weightlifting. His passion for athletics was instrumental in Eric establishing and running Anabolic Sciences Labs, where he built a loyal base of clients and stores across the country.
When he was not working out at the gym or cheering on the Georgia Bulldogs on fall Saturdays, Eric loved spending all his time with his beloved bulldogs. First Jake, then Jack and then Boss, there was nothing Eric loved more than walking around Lake Midget or down Park Avenue with his bulldog. He would always make time for anyone who would want to stop and say hi to his bulldog. He loved his bulldogs (and all dogs) with the same unconditional love they demonstrated to him.
Eric is survived by his mother Robin (Bruce Burghard), his father, Robert, his sister Kacy (Lawrence Lyman), his half-brother Cole, his nephews Charlie and Chase, his wife, Jane Schlesinger (stepdaughters Ashley and Lily), and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and many other family members and friends who will miss his sense of humor, and his stories that always ended with a laugh and a smile. A celebration of Eric’s life will take place on August 19, 2023, at the Winter Park Country Club from 4:30-7. In lieu of flowers, Eric’s family ask that you consider a donation to the Greater Pet Alliance of Orlando in his memory. (https://petallianceorlando.org/ways-give/memorials/).
