Obituary
Eric Lawrence Houck, Sr. passed away December 28th, 2018 in Deltona Florida, he was born September 25th, 1938 at the Old Smith Hospital on Mead Street in Walton, to Lawrence and Florence (Beers) Houck.
Eric enlisted in the U.S. Navy in October 1955 and proudly served his country aboard the USS Lexington until November 1959. He returned home met and married Ruth Ann (French) Houck in December 27, 1959, they just celebrated 59 years of marriage.
Eric was a well-known business man who loved to dabble in many enterprises and was always busy. He owned and operated Delhi Chemicals with his brother Virgil, Jan’s Restaurant and most recently Tom’s Tire Barn, which were operated by him and his family. Eric’s greatest loves were his family, whom he loved to spoil, cooking and his infamous fish fries or pancakes breakfasts’. His grandchildren could always count on grandpa (pop pop) to have Tic Tac’s in his pocket. When not spending time with the family you could find him or fishing or tending his garden. He had a green thumb and could grow most anything he set his mind to.
Eric is survived by his loving wife Ruth Ann, his sons Eric Jr. and John and his daughter Jan (Michael) Calhoun. Grandchildren: Brenda (Stephen) Ramos, Jennifer Houck, Steven Core, Katy (Alex) Northrup, and Molly Cairns. His Great-Grandchildren Ethan Ramos and Charlotte Joslin. And many sisters’ in-laws, brother in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews as well as many friends.
Services will be at the convenience of the family, at a later time.
