Obituary

Eric Norton Irwin, age 81, of Ocala, Florida, passed away on December 22, 2022 at Advent Hospital Ocala, Florida. Eric was born in Baltimore, Maryland to his parents, Clayton Jerome Irwin and Ernestine Norton. He retired from BellSouth as a Cable Splicer. He enjoyed reading and fishing with his brother Donnie. He enjoyed model trains. Eric loved humor and was always delighted when he could help someone smile. Eric was a social, active man who was deeply involved in his church. At Highlands Baptist Church he served on the property and grounds committee. He served as a deacon and was responsible for organizing the ushers and the welcome team for the worship service. He enjoyed the small group that met in his home for Bible study and fellowship. His family and friends will always remember him as a person who loved them and made them smile. Eric enjoyed expressing himself in prose, producing loving tender and encouraging thoughts.

Eric is survived by his daughter Lisa Irwin Midgett and her husband David Midgett, their children Jake Midgett and Isaiah Pepper, Granddaughter Isla Pepper, his brother Donnie and his wife Bessie Scully.

Spouse Donna Irwin and her children, Valerie and John Vollman and their Daughter Keira Vollman, Greg and Kelly Polumbus and children Preston Polumbus (Nichole), Marissa Polumbus, Drew Polumbus, Megan Rudner (Drew), Christian Gettemeier, Sean Cook and Kevin Cook and great grandchildren. Eric has numerous other loved family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his Parents Clayton Jerome Irwin, Ernestine Norton Scully and stepdad Norman Scully, Brother Jerry Irwin and Previous wife of 39 years Ann Irwin .

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday December 30th, 2022 at 11:00 am at Highlands Baptist Church 3530 E. Fort King Street, Ocala, FL 34470. Visitation and viewing at 10:00 am. Service at 11:00 with Pastor Brandon Dobson officiating. Interment at Newnansville Cemetery at Alachua, FL. at 2:30 pm. Pastor Chris Gilliam officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations for The Building Fund can be sent to Highlands Baptist Church, 3530 E. Fort King Street, Ocala, FL 34470.
