Obituary
Erik Christian Newell born 1-25-1978 to Dana and Cynthia (Allen) Newell passed away peacefully on 11-6-2017 at the home of his parents in The Villages Lady Lake Fl. after a courageous and lengthy battle with liver disease.
He attended Gloucester and Rockport schools and worked for many local businesses on Cape Ann through the years.
Erik was a free spirit following such bands as Greatful Dead, Rat Dog and Phish around the country. He was an accomplished fire stick artist and enjoyed entertaining people with his skill.
His favorite job was driving an 18 wheeler for Big Tows out of NY hauling automobiles around the country where he made many friends along the way.
Erik is survived by a son Damien Newell Bowen of N.C., his parents Dana and Cindy Newell of The Villages Fl., his sister Heather Newell and nephew John David Newell of Fl., His aunts and uncles Catherine Spanks of Gloucester, Linda and Lloyd Dennis of The Villages Fl., Carol and Joseph Pallazola of San Diego Ca., and William Newell of W.V.
He also leaves behind his good friends Ricardo and Monica Fijor of New York, Matt Kildoff of Garberville Ca., plus many cousins.
Erik was predeceased by his girlfriend Lauren Bowen, his grandparents Warren and Barbara Allen of Gloucester, William and Esther Newell of Rockport and The Villages Fl. plus his aunt Deborah (Allen) Dementri of Gloucester.
Erik will be missed and remembered by many for his kind heart, free spirit and his crazy beard that got him nicknamed “Goat” by his friends.
A service is being planned for the end of July in Gloucester to be announced at a later date.
