Obituary

Ernesto “Tito” Victoria Custodio, 79, beloved husband to Jo Custodio, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on July 11, 2023 in Orlando, Florida.

Tito was born on May 10, 1944 to Bernadino Feliciano Custodio and Lourdes Victoria Custodio in Makati, Manila, Philippines. He was the youngest of four siblings – Angelita Joven, Teresita Claravall and Antonio Custodio. Tito studied Architecture and Engineering at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, class of 1966. He moved to the United States (Potomac, Maryland) in 1976 with the help of his Auntie Nita, and later settled in Los Angeles, California, where he met his wife, Jo. Tito worked for the aerospace industry for many years and retired in 2013 after fifteen years of service with the City of Los Angeles. After fifty years in LA, Tito and Jo embarked on a new adventure and moved to Orlando, Florida in the spring of 2022.

Tito was a man of great virtue thanks to his love for the LORD. He was prudent, patient, generous and kind. He was reliable, consistent and always positive. He loved truth and beauty in all its forms, from architecture and music to fried shrimp and cold beer. As a husband to Jo, he was dedicated and selfless, and a great dance partner for their 43 years of marriage. To Eric and Cyrene, he was a supportive and fun-loving father who instilled discipline and hard work, as well as a love of music and dance. To his grandchildren, Tito was their sweet and playful “Grandy” who would provide endless entertainment with his guitar or serve as the perfect napping buddy. As a brother, Tito’s siblings remember him as being thoughtful, caring and generous. He was always there to lend a helping hand and provide support to his parents and family in the Philippines. It was important to him that everyone was taken care of. And as a friend, Tito was loyal, hospitable, and a great companion for watching sports games. He especially enjoyed life chats with his friends over coffee, lunch or a beer.

In addition to these admirable qualities, Tito had a warm, high-spirited personality with an unmistakable, jolly laugh to go with it. He was always about having a good time with his family and friends, and gave generously to ensure that everyone was on-board the fun train, too. He was a lover of happy hours, card games, jam sessions, music concerts and karaoke. But above all, he loved Jesus. A joyful and grateful soul, Tito knew how to enjoy life’s simple pleasures. For these things and so much more, Tito will be remembered, always, by those who loved him dearly.

Tito is survived by his wife Jo, his son Eric and his wife Julie (grandchildren – Malia and Makua), his daughter Cyrene and her husband Sean (grandchildren – Jack, and grandbaby due in February 2024), and his siblings Angelita Joven, Teresita Claravall and Antonio Custodio.

A Celebration of Life will be held at The Gathering of Lake Nona, Orlando Florida in August (date to be confirmed). Flowers and donations can be sent to Jo Custodio at the following address: 7565 Laureate Blvd. Unit #3408, Orlando, FL 32827.
