Obituary

Esther Irene (Foudy) Roberts passed away peacefully with her husband and children by her side. Born in Albany, NY to the late Thomas F. Foudy and Alice Dempsey Foudy. She was a graduate of Vincentian Institute and Hudson Valley Community College. She was employed by The Travelers Insurance and worked for the New York State Legislature. She was a loving wife and mother who is survived by her husband, Ronald; sons, Thomas (Diane), Paul (Barbara); daughter, Rhonda Chicko (Frank); grandchildren, Janelle Rei (Matthew), Steven Roberts, Natalie Roberts, Eric Roberts, Nicole Roberts, Frank Chicko, Jessica Chicko, Matthew Chicko; and great grandchild, Madilynn Rei She is also survived by her sister, Alice Hamill, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

While living in New York, Esther enjoyed sailing with her family on their boat “Take Me Away” on Lake George in the summer and skiing in the Adirondack Mountains in the winter.

In 2015, Esther and her husband, Ron, moved to The Villages, FL to enjoy a more active lifestyle in a warmer climate. Some of Esther’s favorite past times included golf, playing samba, participating in her book club, and enjoying the company of her friends.

Esther was a fan of General Hospital (GH) which she enjoyed watching for 58 consecutive years. As the years passed, watching GH while enjoying a bowl of ice cream became a daily source of enjoyment.

Esther was fortunate to travel throughout the US and to several international destinations including Europe, Ireland, Egypt, and Israel.

Family and friends were always a top priority in Esther’s life. She will be missed by many.

Family, friends and others, whose lives Esther touched, are invited to celebrate a memorial mass at St. Timothy Catholic Church, 1351 Paige Place, Lady Lake, FL 32159 at 8:30 am on Friday, 7/22/2022. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Salvation Army.

Esther has been a friend since 1972, a lot of years of mixed bridge games, sailing Lake George and skiing with our families. .We always had fun together and our kids enjoyed the comrade of friends like cousins.
Esther has difficulties with arthritis, but she never complained. Family was everything to her, and she was a loyal friend. We’ll miss you, Es.

I cant even remember the first time I met Esther because she became a friend shortly after we moved to Clifton Park in 1976. What I do remember is the twinkle in her eye and her sharp wit and the subtle mischievous side of her. The memories with the “Ya Ya’s( and Yo yo’s) , the card games, girls weekends, sharing the joys of our families’ graduations, weddings, grandchildren are treasured memories. We were also all there to vent with each other over the challenges of raising our fun loving teenagers. Thank you Esther for your friendship throughout the years .
